Journey of water
Students become water droplets and travel through the water cycle, experiencing the unpredictable paths water can take through clouds, rivers, oceans, soil, plants, animals, and groundwater. Along the way, they explore evaporation, condensation, precipitation, collection, and changes in states of matter.
The experience begins with an engaging discussion about the water cycle, local water resources, water treatment, and the importance of water conservation. After completing their journey, students create a written account describing where their water droplet traveled and the scientific processes it experienced.
STEM Steward Challenge: Students identify one way their school can conserve water.
Adapted from Project WET and aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), this interactive experience builds curiosity, critical thinking, and environmental stewardship while inspiring students to understand, appreciate, and protect one of Earth’s most essential resources.
