Energy Detectives
Where is energy hiding—and where is it being wasted?
In Energy Detectives, students explore the science of energy through movement, observation, hands-on experiments, and real-world problem solving.
They investigate light, heat, sound, electricity, and motion; discover where energy comes from and how it moves and changes; and explore why using energy wisely matters for our natural resources, environment, and communities.
Students then put their detective skills to work by uncovering energy waste and designing practical solutions for a fictional school.
STEM Steward Challenge: Students investigate energy use and can complete an optional Student Energy Audit for school leadership. Students can take the experience even further by investigating energy use on their own campus, collecting evidence, developing recommendations, and sharing their findings with school leadership.
Aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), this interactive experience combines physical science, engineering, environmental literacy, writing, collaboration, and critical thinking while empowering students to turn scientific discovery into meaningful action.
